Tito Jackson announces brand new blues album release

Gulf Coast Records and Hillside Global announce the signing of music legend Tito Jackson and will release the singer/guitarist’s label debut album, Under Your Spell, on August 6. Under Your Spell will be available for pre-order on July 9, which is also the date the album’s first single, “Love One Another,” will be released.

The California-based Jackson is supported on his debut Blues album by an array of superlative special guests, including George Benson, Joe Bonamassa, Marlon Jackson, Eddie Levert, Kenny Neal, Bobby Rush and Stevie Wonder, who all add their special talents to the proceedings. Above it all though, Tito Jackson’s innate abilities as a singer, songwriter, guitarist, producer and arranger shine through brilliantly, creating a spectacular record that is destined for airplay and rave reviews in a number of formats.

The debut single “Love One Another,” is the perfect antidote for today’s times of doubt and trepidation, as the vocals of Tito, along with Marlon Jackson, Bobby Rush and Kenny Neal soar above the musical bed of melodies that feature the sweet sound of Stevie Wonder’s signature harmonica style.

Song-writing duo and Hall Of Famers Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff, who penned worldwide hits for The Jacksons and The O’Jays, came out of retirement to write “All In The Family Blues” for Tito. The track features another Hall Of Fame legend, Eddie Levert.

As a friend and admirer of BB King, Tito pays tribute in his cover of King’s 1964 classic, “Rock Me Baby.” Tito is honored to be joined on the song by BB’s daughter, Claudette King.

Continuing on the path set for Jackson when he broke into the music business as a member of the legendary Jackson 5, Tito continues to grow as a musician and performer, with Under Your Spell as the extraordinary present he has bestowed on the listening public.

The Jackson family call for investigation into Martin Bashir programme

Members of the Jackson family have called for an investigation into journalist Martin Bashir’s treatment of Michael Jackson during the making of a headline grabbing ITV programme back in 2003. This follows the recent investigation into and subsequent Dyson Report on Bashir’s 1995 interview with Princess Diana on the BBC’s ‘Panorama’ programme, which found that he had used deceitful methods in order to secure that particular royal exclusive. Taj Jackson has said that Bashir’s “manipulated footage and unethical journalism is one of the main reasons my uncle Michael is not here today … my family deserves an investigation and apology too”.

Meanwhile brother of Michael, Tito, told the Mirror: “Bashir created a fake narrative about my brother, which becomes crystal clear when you view the outtakes Bashir kept secret. He used Michael’s trust and friendship with Diana to get the interview, manipulated Michael throughout the interview, then deceptively edited the footage”. Behind the scenes footage from the Jackson programme at the time showed that Bashir had praised the musician about certain things during filming that he then overtly criticised in the final edit of the show.

The programme put the spotlight back on Jackson’s relationships with children, leading to an investigation by the Santa Barbara district attorney. That resulted in allegations that the musician had molested a child who had been seen in the Bashir programme, which in turn led to criminal charges and the big 2005 child abuse trial.

Although Jackson was acquitted of all charges at the end of that trial, Taj Jackson argues that the court case “broke” his uncle. Meanwhile Bashir pursued a successful TV career in the US, in part based on the hype surrounding his Jackson documentary. “Shame on those who provided cover for Bashir [and] shame on those who rewarded him”, Taj added.

Michael Jackson himself made an official complaint to TV watchdog ITC after the programme aired, saying: “Martin Bashir persuaded me to trust him, that his would be an honest and fair portrayal of my life, and told me he was ‘the man that turned Diana’s life around'”. “Today I feel more betrayed than perhaps ever before”, he added, “that someone, who had got to know my children, my staff and me, whom I let into my heart and told the truth, could then sacrifice the trust I placed in him and produce this terrible and unfair programme. Everyone who knows me will know the truth, which is that my children come first in my life and that I would never harm any child”.

Bashir was introduced to Michael by his friend Uri Geller, who now says that he was convinced to set up an initial meeting after the journalist showed him a handwritten letter from Princess Diana. This letter was presented as evidence in Lord Dyson’s investigation, and in it she wrote that she had “no regrets” about speaking to Bashir.  “What convinced me to introduce him to Michael was a letter he pulled out of his pocket”, Geller told the Mirror. “It was folded two or three times and there was a logo on it. He said it was from Princess Diana, writing to him about how happy she was with the interview. I had felt unease, but it was the Diana letter that won my feelings over. He was a super-smooth operator. I regret that terrible introduction. It was the beginning of, I believe, Michael’s spiral downwards”.

ITV has not yet commented on calls for an investigation into the Michael Jackson interview. The Jackson family meanwhile, have reportedly threatened legal action.

Court dismisses lawsuit from Wade Robson

Michael Jackson's estate has succeeded again in having a lawsuit from one of the late pop star's accusers dismissed. A Los Angeles judge ruled on Monday 26 April 2021 that Wade Robson cannot sue Jackson's businesses over the childhood sexual abuse he allegedly suffered. Robson is expected to appeal the decision. Last year, the same judge ruled against fellow accuser James Safechuck on similar grounds. In his latest ruling, LA County Superior Court Judge Mark A Young held that Jackson's companies had "no legal ability" to control his behaviour because he was the sole owner, and could "remove any and all of the board members without cause or notice". Robson and Safechuck were allowed to pursue legal claims against two of Jackson's companies last year, having had previous lawsuits dismissed. On Monday, however, lawyers for MJJ Productions and MJJ Ventures succeeded in obtaining a summary judgment dismissing Mr Robson's claims. The judge ruled there was no evidence of misfeasance and that Mr Robson had been unable to demonstrate "extreme and outrageous conduct". Lawyers for Jackson's estate welcomed the ruling and accused Mr Robson of "pursuing frivolous claims [that] have no merit whatsoever." Taj Jackson welcomed Monday's decision, saying his family had "stood strong and never wavered" despite being "ridiculed, vilified and marginalised".

Case Against Michael Jackson Brought by Wade Robson Tentatively Dismissed by Judge

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Mark A. Young has tentatively dismissed the last of the cases brought by choreographer Wade Robson against the Estate of Michael Jackson. A final ruling will come after a hearing on April 26th.  Robson’s cases against Jackson, his Estate and companies were based on an out of left field claim that he’d been sexually harassed and abused by Jackson when he was a child. But Robson had testified in Jackson’s defense in his 2005 child molestation trial and continued to sing his praises after he died. It was only in 2013 when Robson had been rejected by the Estate to do work on Jackson projects that he made the claims. The claims then became the basis of the film Leaving Neverland. Robson was joined in his lawsuit by James Safechuck, who also made the sexual molestation claims, appeared in the documentary, and so on. His case was dismissed last year. Keep reading for some points from the case. But as you read through the judge’s decision, you’ll see the words “no triable issue.” The case has been essentially tossed.
